Trusted on public infrastructure and mobility improvement projects across Florida for roadway markings, MMA bike and bus lanes, and Technical Expertise.
What is MMA? (Methyl Methacrylate)
Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) is a high-performance pavement marking and surface coating system designed for extreme durability, high visibility, and long-term color retention. Commonly used for bike lanes, bus lanes, crosswalks, and high-wear traffic areas, MMA provides superior skid resistance and UV stability compared to traditional paint systems, making it ideal for roadway and mobility infrastructure projects throughout Florida.

MMA applications across Florida.
Six surface and marking systems Greenway installs with spray-applied MMA — every one FDOT-approved.
- Bike lanes
- Green MMA conflict zones, sharrows, and high-visibility lane lines. Built for friction requirements on Florida mobility corridors.
- Bus lanes
- Red MMA bus rapid transit (BRT) lanes and bus-only lane delineation, colored for clear modal separation.
- Crosswalks
- Decorative brick-pattern and high-visibility MMA crosswalks. Holds color and traction far longer than paint.
- Conflict zones
- Colored MMA surfacing at driveways, intersections, and merge zones. Installed per FDOT guidelines for conflict zone surfacing.
- Decorative pavement
- Stamped-pattern MMA crosswalk and streetscape systems. Specified on downtown mobility and placemaking projects.
- Anti-skid surfacing
- MMA broadcast with anti-skid aggregate to meet FDOT friction requirements. Improves traction in wet conditions; reduces slip-and-fall liability.
One pour. Years of performance.
Side-by-side: MMA pavement markings vs. standard traffic paint.
| Spec | MMA | Paint |
|---|---|---|
| Lifespan | 9–11× longer than paint | Baseline (1×) |
| UV resistance | High — long-term color retention | Low — fades within 1–2 years under FL sun |
| Skid resistance | Built in (broadcast aggregate) | None — must add separately |
| Color retention | Years of full saturation | Months before noticeable fade |
| Durability under traffic | Withstands turning, braking & heavy loads | Wears quickly in wheel paths |
| FDOT APL approved | Yes — high-visibility & durable systems | Standard markings only |
Spray-applied MMA systems.
Spray-applied MMA systems are built for large-scale roadway projects, delivering a smoother, more uniform finish than rolled applications. Using specialized equipment, spray MMA can be installed up to 10× faster, making it ideal for bike lanes, bus lanes, and high-production mobility projects, while minimizing disruptions to the traveling public.
We maintain consistent quality and reliability by using products exclusively from the FDOT Approved Products Listing (APL). Every product we install meets the highest industry standards for safety and performance. Our solutions are fully compliant with state specifications and regulations, providing long-lasting, durable bike lane markings.
